Filmmaker Faces Backlash from DOKUARTS Film Festival Berlin for Signing an Open Letter

I received this aggressive and disturbing email (see below) from Andreas Lewin, the director of DOKUARTS, a film festival in Berlin where I showed my film in October 2023. His email is in response to a letter I signed along with over 1,000 other filmmakers, curators, and artists to Oberhausen Film Festival stating that we as artists would not be aligned with the Zionist statements made by the festival and its director Lars Gass.

The email was titled "Your campaign against Lars Gass":

Hi Amber,

I am deeply irritated and horrified that you signed a petition against our much respected colleague Lars Hendrik Gass.

What do you know about the German/Neukölln situation in the aftermath of the terror attacks? Are you supporting BDS? Then I should have never invited you.

I will be more careful in the future.
