After a speaker raised concerns during a panel at ICIC2024 about participating in the conference due to the call for a strike against Germany, a complaint was made to the conference organizers and they were told to refrain from “making divisive statements that can or have caused harm in our community.” The members of the panel on African perspectives on intimacy consequently withdrew. ICIC2024 published a statement in response.
