Alternatives Kultur Werk Bitterfeld disinvited the Scottish punk band Oi Polloi from a concert planned for April 27, 2024, due to the band's “criticism of Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip" and their "one-sided solidarity with Palestine which go beyond an appropriate criticism of Israel’s policies." Oi Polloi shared that the collective sent an “interrogation by email” questioning the use of the term "genocide" and the band’s stance on Hamas – but uninvited the band before receiving an answer. Some of the other bands for the planned evening canceled their participation.
