The Schelling Architecture Foundation rescinded its €10,000 theory prize from British artist James Bridle days before the award ceremony. The reason given was Bridle’s signing of an open letter in the online magazine Literary Hub, in which he pledged to boycott Israeli cultural institutions. The foundation stated that Bridle's signature "is directly at odds" with Germany’s history and the responsibilities resulting from that history.
