Summary:
A temporary staff member for Berlinale 2024 was reported to the police after they wrote the phrase "from the river to the sea" in an internal email to other employees of the film festival. According to an email from Florian Weghorn, Chief of Staff of the Berlinale, the management of KBB (Kulturveranstaltungen des Bundes in Berlin GmbH) – Tricia Tuttle, Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, Matthias Pees, and Charlotte Sieben – unanimously decided to report the staff member to the police on the basis of the email for “presumed criminal behavior.” In light of the charges being filed, the staff member's visa application was suspended, preventing them from seeking a full time position in Germany. In the event of a conviction, they risk deportation, but the trial has been indefinitely postponed, leaving them in a legal grey zone.
