Summary:

An event series titled The Art of Memory in Times of Trauma and Grief, featuring films, lectures and discussions on memory, trauma, and repression, was abruptly and indefinitely "postponed" by the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig. The program included works by Kurdish and Palestinian artists, and critiques of rigid memory culture in Germany, particularly regarding Holocaust remembrance and Palestinian perspectives. In a statement from December 5th, Rothberg wrote: "A lecture that was part of a series organized to bring attention to the restriction of academic freedom and freedom of expression in Germany was instead itself restricted and used as an opportunity to defame, once again, Palestinian perspectives."
